Alaba’s situation is quite different from that of his teammate. Once regarded as one of Europe’s elite center-backs, the Austrian’s career was abruptly halted by a serious knee injury in December 2023. He now ranks fifth among the club’s central defenders, behind Militão, Rüdiger, Nacho, and Dean Huijsen, and has virtually no prospects for regular playing time. Real Madrid had already considered parting ways with him last summer, but due to a lack of concrete offers and his high salary, he remained at the club.
