Real Madrid are unhappy with England’s treatment of Jude Bellingham during the international break, according to Marca.
Madrid consider Bellingham’s trip to England as unnecessary, having not played in the 1-1 draw against Uruguay and the 1-0 defeat to Japan.
Manager Thomas Tuchel defended the decision not to play Bellingham. He said he did not want to ‘take any risks’ with the Madrid star, who just recovered from a hamstring injury.
Madrid would have preferred the midfielder to build match fitness through playing time rather than just training ahead of the season run-in.
Bellingham had been injured since February, but returned to action in the 3-2 win over local rivals Atletico Madrid.
The 22-year-old will now have only the Real Mallorca game to sharpen his match fitness ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League quarter-final clash with Bayern Munich.
It remains to be seen whether manager Alvaro Arbeloa will start Bellingham at the Bernabeu Stadium.
Arbeloa has recently settled for a four-man midfield of Aurelien Tchouameni, Federico Valverde, Arder Guler and Thiago Pitarch.
The quartet have played a key role in Madrid’s five-game winning streak, including the 5-1 aggregate win over Manchester City in the Champions League round of 16.
Pitarch appears the most likely to drop out if Arbeloa reinstates Bellingham into the starting line-up.
Bellingham will be hoping to finish the season strongly as Madrid eye La Liga and Champions League success.
He has featured in 29 games across all competitions, chipping in with 10 goal involvements.
