Real Madrid are in full preparation for the season ahead, with Jose Mourinho set to take the reins as head coach.
The Portuguese tactician is expected to be supported by a star-studded team, with president Florentino Perez notably looking to bring back Toni Kroos to the dugout.
It is, in fact, one of Perez’s key levers as he looks to win the upcoming presidential election. But Kroos is not the only former Real Madrid star Perez would be willing to take back this summer.

According to AS, Perez has already made a personal promise to Modric that the doors of Real Madrid will remain open for him to return in whatever role he prefers once he decides to retire from playing.
At almost 41, with a World Cup with Croatia on the horizon, an honourable retirement after the tournament is increasingly the most likely scenario for the Croatian genius.
Modric spent one season at AC Milan, winning over the fans with his absolute commitment, before a fractured cheekbone against Juventus decimated his team at a crucial stage of the season.
He is now contemplating life after football.

The report claims that Modric has always been drawn to football in all its facets, and a role within Real Madrid’s sporting structure, whether as sporting director, advisor or in some other technical capacity, would be a natural fit.
His standing at the club, built across 13 years of extraordinary service, makes him one of the most respected figures in the institution’s recent history.
Together with Kroos, the prospect of both legends contributing to Real Madrid’s future off the pitch is a truly compelling prospect.
