Antonio Rudiger is in big trouble in the wake of his antics in the recent Copa Del Rey final against Barcelona.
The German international was frustrated at the referee after the final whistle and even tried to throw an ice-park at the ref.
This led to a flurry of reports suggesting that the veteran defender could receive a hefty ban in the wake of his actions – a ban that could span anywhere from 4 to 12 matches.
According to MARCA, Rudiger is considering undergoing a knee surgery, knowing that he may face a hefty suspension.
It is no secret that Rudiger’s knee has been troubling him for a while, affecting his fitness levels and performances while also making him more injury-prone.
The German is looking to fix this problem by undergoing surgery and taking a long break on the sidelines.

Rudiger is hoping this will help him improve his knee situation so that he can return to action in a better shape next season.
As far as the suspension is concerned, the Real Madrid board is likely to appeal against any suspension that comes across.
But Los Blancos‘ legal team doesn’t see much hope as there is not much basis for a defense other than an apology issued by Rudiger at the referees.
In any case, the possibility of Rudiger’s knee surgery is gaining ground, regardless of the severity of his suspension.
Real Madrid’s attempt will be to reduce the suspension as much as they can so that the veteran can return to action before the season ends.
