Barcelona dominated all four meeting between the two rivals last season

El Clasico takes centre stage for the first time this season as Real Madrid host Barcelona in a massive showdown at the top of LaLiga. In the corresponding fixture just over a year ago, Barca won 4-0 in a statement victory that set the tone for the remaining three meetings of the campaign.

The Blaugrana went on to beat their fiercest rivals to lift both the Spanish Super Cup and Copa del Rey before taking a massive step towards regaining the LaLiga crown with a win on home soil. Lamine Yamal played a starring role in each of those games and has stoked the flames ahead of today’s clash.

Los Blancos have made a solid, if unspectacular start to life under new head coach Xabi Alonso, winning all but one game this season. Still unbeaten at the Santiago Bernabeu and with key defenders available for selection after injury, Real Madrid will no doubt be be desperate to avoid suffering a fifth straight loss to Barcelona.
