This match marks the fourth game of Xabi Alonso’s tenure, with the Spaniard hoping to gel his side quickly as they reach the business end of this new tournament.

Florentino Perez has made no secret of his desire to win the first edition of the new Club World Cup, meaning there is plenty of pressure on Alonso, and standing in their way for now are a Juventus side who are looking to bounce back from a shambolic 5-2 loss to Manchester City.

Igor Tudor’s side have shown little to encourage fans since the Croatian took over at the Allianz, and while it looks unlikely that they will trouble this new-look Madrid team, Fluminense and Al-Hilal have proven that the ‘worse’ teams are capable of producing shocks at the tournament.

'The match of the tournament'

Juventus manager Igor Tudor claimed that facing Real Madrid in the last-16 would be the match of the tournament for his team.

Speaking at a press conference ahead of tonight’s game he said: "I expect a difficult match, against a renowned team with great qualities that, in the last 10 years, have shown their worth in all competitions.

“Real Madrid is always strong in these tournaments. We are prepared. We want to advance, we want to play our cards. I really liked Real Madrid's last match. I saw quality, teamwork and sacrifice. I saw a real team.

“We have a difficult match ahead of us, we have analysed it well, but I told my players that these are the best matches to play.

“Everyone wants to beat Real Madrid, we want to try too. We have to face it like this, also with great courage.

“The match of the tournament for us? Obviously.”
