Real Madrid face Real Oviedo at the Santiago Bernabeu tonight in La Liga action.
Los Blancos will aim to restore some pride after defeat in El Clásico ended the club’s title dream, crowning Barcelona champions.
This is the second straight season that Real Madrid have ended a campaign without silverware and change is expected in the dugout. Talks are ongoing with Jose Mourinho over a sensational return to the Spanish capital.
Mourinho will be tasked with reuniting a dressing room fractured in recent weeks, following a fracas between Aurelien Tchouameni and Federico Valverde, alongside reported issues involving Kylian Mbappe.
For now, the focus is on a positive result against a Real Oviedo side rooted ton the bottom of the table. Already relegated, the visitors are preparing for Segunda Division football next season.
Alvaro Arbeloa has a sizeable list of absentees for tonight’s clash. Mbappe has returned to training after a hamstring injury but is unlikely to be risked, while Fede Valverde’s participation is in doubt after injuries sustained in his fight with Tchouameni. Dean Huijsen joins the list of those unlikely to be passed fit.
Elsewhere, Rodrygo, Eder Militao, Arda Guler, Ferland Mendy and Dani Carvajal are all ruled out.
Eric Bailly’s broken nose has ruled him out of the trip and the Ivorian joins the suspended Javi Lopez and Kwasi Sibo on the unavailable list. Jaime Vazquez is out injured, while Leander Dendoncker is a major doubt.
