The powers that be at La Liga giants Real Madrid have earmarked a member of the defensive ranks at Saudi outfit Al-Nassr as a potential summer signing.

That’s according to El Larguero, who point towards Aymeric Laporte as the player in question.

Stopper Laporte, for his part, is fresh off seeing his stock across the continent rise once more across the summer to date.

As much comes owing to his performances at the heart of Spain’s backline, en route to La Roja’s triumph at Euro 2024.

Making clear that he has not skipped a beat since swapping the top level of European football with Manchester City for the Saudi Pro League, Laporte proved himself a crucial member of boss Luis de la Fuente’s Spanish XI.

And, evidently, as much proved enough to pique the attentions of one of the leading clubs back in his home country.

As per a report from El Larguero:

‘Real Madrid are looking for a central defender after the departure of Nacho. And Laporte is in the spotlight. He is one of the options being considered, the player wants to return to the league and would be willing to give up his high salary.’

The problem, however, lies in the stance of Al-Nassr.

The Riyadh-based club, with whom another Real Madrid legend in Cristiano Ronaldo is currently plying his trade, are understood to be altogether against the idea of allowing Laporte to depart.

It now remains to be seen whether or not the 30-year-old can manage to sway the minds of those behind the scenes at Al-Nassr Stadium.
