A major European transfer scramble is underway for one of football's most promising teenage talents. Honest Ahanor, the 17-year-old Nigerian defender, has catapulted himself to the top of many elite clubs' wishlists after a blistering start to the season with Atalanta Bergamo.
While Chelsea are reported to have an initial edge due to their long-term tracking of the player, the landscape shifted significantly with the entrance of Spanish giants Real Madrid into the race. The Premier League is now on high alert, with Manchester City, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, and Newcastle United all closely monitoring his development.
Interest is not confined to England and Spain. From Germany, both Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig have dispatched scouts to Italy to assess the young centre-back firsthand. The upcoming February window is seen as a critical moment, as it marks Ahanor's 18th birthday. English clubs, in particular, are expected to launch formal moves at that time in an effort to secure his signature ahead of the summer market.
Currently valued at approximately €20 million by Transfermarkt, Ahanor is under contract with Atalanta until 2028 and earns an annual salary of around €930,000.
