According to RMC Sport, Real Madrid wanted Didier Deschamps not to call up Kylian Mbappé (25) for the international break. However, Les Bleus’ captain does, as expected, feature in the squad to face Italy and Belgium.

It has been a busy summer for Mbappé, who led France to the semi-finals of the Euros, before being unveiled as a Real Madrid player and adapting to his new surroundings. Within this context, Real Madrid wanted Mbappé to be rested. But not just him, Carlo Ancelotti also wanted Ferland Mendy and Aurélien Tchouaméni to be left out of Deschamps’ squad, just as Julian Nagelsmann did with Antonio Rüdiger.

However, Deschamps did not follow suit with Mbappé, Mendy, and Tchouaméni all being called up. Eduardo Camavinga misses out through injury. If there was a request from Ancelotti, Deschamps didn’t confirm it during the unveiling of the France squad for the upcoming break.

“I don’t know where you got that information from,” said Deschamps, who nonetheless noted that there is “always a problem” with the hectic calendar. It remains to be seen whether the France manager will manage his captain’s game time during the upcoming games.
