Real Madrid are keeping their eyes on the transfer market for possible reinforcements in midfield next summer, with several names being identified as targets.
One such player who happens to be on the radars of the Merengues is AZ Alkmaar and Netherlands youth international Kees Smit.
The 19-year-old starlet was on the club’s radars last summer as well, but they opted not to make a move.
Now he is back on the agenda, but there is plenty of competition for his services as Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Newcastle United are all in the race.
Now, according to Sky Sport (h/t AS), AZ Alkmaar are ready to sell Smit in the summer of 2026 amid growing interest in his services.
The report further states that the Dutch outfit will seek a transfer fee of a little over €25 million to sell their young prospect.

That sum should not be a problem for Real Madrid or any of Smit’s other suitors, should they opt to make a move for him in the summer.
As mentioned already, there are a plethora of top clubs pushing to sign the Dutchman, including Real Madrid’s rivals Barcelona.
Furthermore, the 19-year-old starlet even went on to name the Blaugrana as his favourite club, saying:
“I watch almost all of Barcelona’s games. It’s simply my favourite club.”
So, it will be interesting to see if the Spanish capital giants decide to make a move for Smit or look at other options, with the likes of Adam Wharton of Crystal Palace and Manchester City heavyweight Rodri also on the club’s radars.
