Earlier today, reports emerged from French newspaper L’Equipe claiming that Michael Olise was ready to join Real Madrid this summer.

It was suggested that the French international has informed teammates during the World Cup that he would like to play for Los Blancos, who were preparing a world-record offer for the 24-year-old winger.

Respect for Bayern comes first

However, according to journalist Arancha Rodriguez of COPE, Real Madrid have no intention of engaging in a transfer battle with Bayern Munich for Olise and would only consider a move if the player’s situation changes significantly.

Florentino Perez & co. place considerable importance on maintaining Real Madrid’s strong relationship with Bayern.

For that reason, the Spanish heavyweights have no intention of approaching either the German club or the player while Bayern continue to insist that Olise is not available for transfer.

Three things need to happen

As such, the Merengues will only make a formal move for the 24-year-old winger if three things happen.

For starters, Real Madrid will not act on their interest unless Olise himself informs Bayern Munich that he wishes to leave.

The club’s stance is clear: any future move would only become possible if the winger publicly expressed his desire to secure a move away from Allianz Arena.

On top of that, Real Madrid would only approach Bayern Munich with an offer if the German champions signaled a willingness to negotiate.

Even if Bayern softened their position, another obstacle remains. Signing a player valued at more than €150 million would almost certainly require Real Madrid to sell one of their own star players first in order to balance both the squad and the financial commitment.

As things stand, the club are not actively working on a deal for Olise and view any potential transfer as dependent on circumstances that have yet to materialize.

Real Madrid’s position unchanged

Although Olise is highly regarded within Real Madrid, the Spanish club had already publicly distanced themselves from speculation earlier this summer.

In an official statement released on June 20, Los Blancos denied having held any direct or indirect contact with the player, his representatives or anyone from his entourage.

The club also emphasised their excellent institutional relationship with Bayern Munich, highlighting the long-standing respect and cooperation between the two European giants.

And, despite all the noise of late, their position remains unchanged.
