After some concerns heading into the international break, things are beginning to improve significantly for Xabi Alonso and Real Madrid.

Leading up to the break, Real Madrid lost two key players Thibaut Courtois and Federico Valverde to injuries.

It was followed by scares for Eduardo Camavinga and Kylian Mbappe while on duty with France. However, as reported a while back, the French duo do not have any major issue and will be available to face Elche after the international window.

Courtois, Valverde to return as well

Now, according to AS, Courtois and Valverde, whose recovery has progressed as expected, will also be available to face Elche upon the end of the international break.

The Belgian goalkeeper ended the match against Rayo Vallecano with discomfort in the long adductor of his right leg. The Uruguayan midfielder suffered an injury to the semimembranosus, also in the right leg.

Real Madrid estimated a recovery time of 10 to 12 days for both players, and that timeline is being met. Now, both Courtois and Valverde are expected to be fully fit for Sunday at the Martinez Valero.

What about the others?

With Courtois, Valverde, Mbappe, and Camavinga all expected to be available to face Elche, Real Madrid only have Dani Carvajal as the player who is definitively ruled out of the contest.

After all, Aurelien Tchouameni and Antonio Rudiger have been making solid progress in their recovery and can still make a comeback for the trip, although they might not be rushed back by Alonso.

If they do not make it in time for the Elche match, they are expected to be available for the game against Olympiacos.

Meanwhile, Franco Mastantuono’s recovery from pubalgia depends heavily on day-to-day sensations.
