Real Madrid have not painted a pretty picture of themselves in recent times, especially when losing games, bringing many to point a sense of entitlement in the Merengues’ internal environment.

When against the wall in the game against Celta Vigo, Fran Garcia and Alvaro Carreras were both sent off, with the latter being given his marching orders for dissent.

Earlier this week, Raul Asencio and Rodrygo were sent off in Real Madrid’s game against Benfica, with the latter again being sent off for his words and actions.

It comes as a big blow for Los Blancos, as both will be unavailable for the first playoff game next month.

Rodrygo’s apology

Taking full accountability for his actions and the consequences that the team must now suffer, Rodrygo openly penned an apology via his X account, admitting that he was at fault for the way he acted and got himself sent off.

“Yesterday I let myself get carried away by the moment when claiming the time losses,” his apology began.

“It’s not my way of doing things. I’d never been sent off while playing for Real Madrid and I’m aware of the consequences,” he added, elaborating on how it was unlike him to stand in such a situation.

The winger then asked for the forgiveness not only of his teammates and the manager but also of all the fans across the globe who he had disappointed with his actions.

“I apologise to the fans, to the club, to my teammates, and to the coach. We will continue united and fighting for this badge and for this Champions League.”

So far this season, the Brazilian has been heavily impactful for Real Madrid ever since regaining prominence in recent months, and not having him for the playoffs will be a massive blow.

After all, he contributes not only on the ball but also when out of possession with his tracking back.
