Real Madrid’s win over Rayo Vallecano came as a much-needed result for the dressing room, although whether or not the result was deserved is a story for another day.

Los Blancos took all three points courtesy of a late penalty scored by Kylian Mbappe after the opposition were reduced to ten men.

On the night at the Santiago Bernabeu, it was Vinicius Jr. who opened the scoring with a great goal, and he was even one of the team’s best players on the night.

Suspension for Vinicius

While Vinicius did finish all ninety minutes on the field against Rayo Vallecano, he was shown a yellow card in the 83rd minute of the game following an argument on the field and for showing dissent.

The booking serves as the Brazilian winger’s fifth in La Liga, as he was already booked against Real Oviedo, Barcelona, Alaves, and Real Betis since the beginning of the season.

Having seen his fifth yellow card of the league campaign, the player must now serve a one-game suspension and will be completely unavailable for Real Madrid’s upcoming clash against Valencia at Mestalla.

Playing at the Mestalla has not been easy for the winger in recent years, especially given the constant controversies of racism and how he has been targeted by the supporters in the stands.

This time, however, he will not even travel with the team in all likelihood, and will thus miss his most turbulent fixture of the season.

Needless to say, his absence will serve as a massive blow to Alvaro Arbeloa’s plans especially given the team’s poor form. Yet, they will have a full week to prepare and devise a solution in the winger’s absence.
