The Champions League returns this week, but Real Madrid will be without three midfielders on matchday one, with Eduardo Camavinga, Arda Güler and Bernardo Silva suspended.

According to L'Équipe, several players must serve carryover bans from last season’s competition, with Madrid particularly affected.

Camavinga and Güler were both sent off in the quarter-final second-leg defeat to Bayern Munich, which finished 3-4. Bernardo Silva is also banned after a red card shown against Real Madrid while he was a Manchester City player.

José Mourinho should therefore field a reshaped midfield when Inter Milan visit on Tuesday, kick-off 21:00.

Elsewhere, Barcelona will be without Eric Garcia for the home match against Feyenoord on Wednesday at 18:45. Borussia Dortmund host Villarreal on Tuesday at 21:00 with a weakened defence, without Nico Schlotterbeck and Ramy Bensebaïni.
