Before facing Celta Vigo, Xabi Alonso was asked about the possibility of playing Éder Militão as a right-back. The Real Madrid coach took the opportunity to deliver a surprising comparison.

The Spanish manager recalled that Militão has already played on the right, notably during a Brazil-Senegal match in London, where he performed exceptionally well. Xabi Alonso explained:

Militão at right-back? It's an option. He has the athleticism, intensity, and tactical awareness to fill several positions.

The Madrid coach went even further, likening his Brazilian defender to a true club legend:

He reminds me a bit of Pepe. When I played with him, you always knew he would deliver, no matter the position. Militão can do the same if the team needs him.

Pepe, a three-time Champions League winner with Real, played 334 matches for the club and remains a benchmark for his commitment and versatility. Meanwhile, with injuries to Dani Carvajal and Trent Alexander-Arnold, it's Fede Valverde who is expected to fill in at right-back.
