Real Madrid
Xabi Alonso's Real Madrid is tearing it up at the start of this season. The Madrid club has even matched a record that dates back 60 years.
Driven by a red-hot Kylian Mbappé, almost scoring in every match, Real Madrid looks unstoppable early in the season. Los Blancos have racked up thirteen wins in fourteen games—a near-historic start for the Spanish giants. In fact, such a blistering season kickoff has only happened twice before in the storied history of the world's most illustrious club.
You have to go back almost a century, to 1928-1929, and then to 1961-1962, to find a start this prolific. "So, 64 years later, Madrid once again gazes at legend," as Marca puts it. The stats further highlight Real Madrid's huge leap since last season. In 14 matches, Los Merengues have conceded just 11 goals—an average of 0.78 per game—with seven clean sheets, despite suffering a heavy defeat in the derby against Atlético. For perspective, last year, they conceded 84 goals in 68 matches.
