ESPN has recently reported that Real Madrid youngster Reinier Jesus is set to complete a loan move to Borussia Dortmund. It is believed that the Los Blancos starlet’s loan will be for one year with Dortmund also having the option to sign him for another season next summer (via ESPN).

Reinier’s Remarkable Rise In Recent Seasons

The 18-year-old arrived from Flamengo in January but is still waiting to earn his first appearance for Zinedine Zidane’s senior team. However, he played in three matches for Real Madrid Castilla last season, scoring two goals and providing one assist in all competitions.

Reinier made a name for himself by catching the eye when representing his former club Flamengo. He registered six goals and two assists in 14 appearances in the Brazilian Serie A last season. At such a young age, he has already shown a few glimpses of what he is capable of as an attacking midfielder.

The Brasilia-born prospect is an important member of the Brazilian Under-23 team, scoring one goal in six games for them thus far. It seems like Zinedine Zidane is not willing to offer him regular first-team chances at the Spanish capital next season. Hence, Reinier can benefit from a loan spell with Dortmund as Lucien Favre could be the perfect manager to oversee his development in the coming seasons.

What Does The South American Wonderkid Offer On The Pitch?

Reinier has blistering pace, which he can use to make some driving runs with the ball while operating in and around the opposition penalty box. He is a hard-working midfielder and is not afraid to cover every inch of grass in the opposition half for the benefit of his side. The Brazilian teen sensation can also strike the ball with a lot of venom and can score some beautiful goals from long range. However, he still has a long way to go and a lot to learn before he is ready to be thrown into the deep waters of Spanish top-flight football.

Did Zidane Make The Right Call By Letting Reinier Leave On Loan This Summer?

Maybe a loan spell at the Signal Iduna Park could be a good piece of business for everyone involved. It will give the player a chance to shine at the highest level while Los Blancos can reap the rewards when he hopefully comes back as a better version of himself at the end of next season.

The German outfit could also create an ideal home for Reinier before he is ready to step up and challenge for a first-team spot at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in the coming seasons. With all things considered, it seems like Zidane has made the right call by sanctioning Reinier’s departure on loan as he has currently got enough quality in his midfield department.

The likes of Luka Modric, Toni Kroos, Federico Valverde, Casemiro and Lucas Vasquez are all vying for a midfield berth in Zidane’s first XI. Thus, there is no room at Real Madrid for an inexperienced player like Reinier right now, but he could still end up becoming a future star for the Spanish champions someday.
