Real Madrid starlet Joan Martínez has on Friday put pen to paper on a new contract with the club.
Youngster Joan, for his part, is of course sidelined long-term at present.
As much comes after the stopper suffered a torn ACL whilst in training during pre-season.
Prior to as much, though, the Spaniard was making a name for himself as one of the standout breakthrough talents at Valdebebas.
Despite his tender years – he only recently turned 17 – Joan did enough to secure a place in Carlo Ancelotti’s first-team setup in Madrid over the summer.
Not only that, but, amid the lack of options at the heart of defence in Real’s squad, the understanding is that the Alginet native was pushing for a permanent spot in the club’s senior setup for the season ahead.
Joan’s long-term injury setback put a stop to as much, but, evidently, faith in his talents remains high in the Spanish capital.
As per a report from Marca, on Friday, the stopper was officially rewarded with a new contract by Real Madrid:
‘Accompanied by his parents, his brother and his agent, Javier Coso, the young 17-year-old centre-back has formalised the agreement that both parties began to negotiate at the beginning of last August and which they closed on 12 September.’
