An up-and-coming member of the defensive ranks at Real Madrid has made his way onto the transfer radar of La Liga rivals Valencia.

This comes amid the understanding that Los Che have set their sights on Joan Martínez.

Defender Joan has of course long been considered one of the standout talents in Spain’s capital, widely tipped for a first-team future in the colours of Real Madrid.

An injury setback in the summer of 2024 delayed his emergence onto the senior stage, but the 18-year-old is now considered ready to make the jump.

And as alluded to above, with as much in mind, another of Spanish football’s leading clubs have begun expressing an interest in bringing Joan in this summer.

As per a report from Marca:

‘Joan is under contract until 2029, so Valencia have explored the possibility of signing him on loan with an option to buy.’

In any such scenario, Real Madrid would insist on a buyback clause, to maintain control of the stopper’s long-term future. It is also noted, though, that ‘no progress’ towards a deal has been made as of yet.
