Jesus Fortea is one of the most talented academy players at Real Madrid right now, who is bracing himself for an interesting summer ahead.

With Xabi Alonso now becoming the Real Madrid coach, talents such as Fortea will hope to make an impression and potentially push for a place in the starting eleven.

In a big commitment to his Real Madrid future, it appears Fortea has renewed his contract at the club and is ready to stay here in the years to come.

Xabi Alonso played a key role in renewal

According to COPE, Fortea has penned a deal with Real Madrid until 2029, with Xabi Alonso playing a key role in the decision.

The new coach is keen on promoting national talent and sees the young full-back as part of the club’s long-term project.

Fortea will even travel with the first-team squad to the Club World Cup in the United States this summer, a major step forward in his development.

Previously under contract until 2026, Fortea was entering his final year this summer. Though former coach Carlo Ancelotti occasionally called him up, he never made the matchday squad.

That lack of exposure prompted serious interest from Champions League clubs across Europe. But Fortea, a lifelong Madridista, remained focused on succeeding at the Bernabeu.

This renewal is one of the club’s biggest recent bets on a youth player. The 17-year-old Spain U19 international, after all, joined from Atletico Madrid in a high-profile move that broke the non-aggression pact between the two clubs.

Fortea will look to live up to this faith and make a big impression on Xabi Alonso as Real Madrid gear up for the Club World Cup later this month.
