Real Madrid are furious following the controversial refereeing decisions in their 1-1 draw against Girona, with the focus on the incident involving Kylian Mbappe.

According to a report from Ok Diario, the frustration inside the club has reached a boiling point.

As such, the club believes a clear penalty was denied after Mbappe suffered a heavy blow inside the box, a moment that could have directly influenced the result and, by extension, the La Liga standings.

Reacting to the incident, voices from inside Valdebebas did not hold back, stating, “What they did to Madrid was a gangland robbery.”

Real Madrid are not happy

The controversy centres on the final stages of the match, when Mbappe was struck by an elbow that left him with a serious cut above his eyebrow.

The injury required three stitches and even forced him to miss training the following day

Despite the visible damage, the referee allowed play to continue and did not award a penalty.

From Madrid’s perspective, the issue is not limited to the on-field call. There is equal frustration with VAR, which had access to multiple angles and still chose not to intervene.

Within the club, there is disbelief that such a significant incident went unpunished despite the available technology.

Officials under spotlight

The report highlights the growing distrust towards the officials involved, particularly Alberola Rojas and Trujillo Suarez.

Both referees are now under scrutiny, with Madrid questioning how such a decision could stand without correction.

There is also concern directed at the Referees’ Technical Committee (CTA), with questions growing regarding the refereeing standards.

Within Real Madrid, they feel that these types of errors are becoming too frequent.

While Real Madrid acknowledge that their overall performance was not at the required level against Girona, they maintain that such decisions cannot be overlooked, especially in a title race where every point is crucial.
