Rodrygo on Liverpool’s Radar Amid Transfer Jigsaw

FSG’s Backing Opens Door for Bold Moves

Liverpool’s summer strategy is beginning to take shape, and reports from GiveMeSport suggest a sensational target is under serious consideration. Real Madrid’s Rodrygo “could be within reach” if owners FSG choose to decisively back new manager Arne Slot and his recruitment team. This would mark a statement of intent as the club transitions into a post-Klopp era.

With Mohamed Salah penning a new contract, the Reds are under less immediate pressure to replace their iconic right-winger. But Liverpool, historically proactive rather than reactive in the transfer market, are known for identifying successors before parting with mainstays.

Rodrygo’s Situation Creates Opportunity

Rodrygo’s name has been regularly linked to Premier League moves, with Manchester United often touted as a potential destination. However, “Manchester United could move for him in the coming months,” but their focus is firmly on securing a new striker.

“Liverpool could feasibly sign the Real Madrid star this summer, ‘if Arne and influential decision-makers are bold enough to make a move to lure him to Anfield,’” GiveMeSport report.

Despite a jaw-dropping £850m release clause, the 24-year-old has only started two of Real Madrid’s last five LaLiga fixtures. Such usage suggests he’s far from untouchable in Madrid, and “there are ‘doubts’ about Rodrygo,” which could encourage a bid—particularly if Luis Diaz departs.

Attack Reshuffle Looms

Liverpool’s long-term admiration for Rodrygo dates back to 2017, when the Brazilian broke through at Santos. Now, seven years on, a genuine pursuit could be on the cards. While “Liverpool want to keep Luis Diaz,” interest from Saudi Arabia—most notably Al-Nassr—has created some uncertainty.

Rodrygo is versatile, best as a winger but effective centrally. “He has made 73 appearances for Madrid as a centre-forward, notching 22 goals in the process.” This flexibility would serve Liverpool well, especially with Darwin Nunez the subject of serious Saudi interest.

The Reds are eyeing attacking options including Alexander Isak, Hugo Ekitike and Joao Pedro. Yet Rodrygo would be the showpiece signing—albeit an expensive one. “Previous reports suggest that it could take as much as £85m to lure him from the Bernabeu.”

Diaz Contract Key to Summer Plan

Another crucial detail? “Liverpool seem keen to retain Luis Diaz this summer. If he stays, it would diminish the need to sign Rodrygo.” A new contract for the Colombian is reportedly on the table, with talks set for the end of the season.

If Diaz stays and Nunez leaves, Rodrygo’s role could shift centrally. Should both attackers remain, Liverpool may look elsewhere. But if FSG truly want to signal a bold new chapter under Slot, the Brazilian might just be the marquee addition that fits the bill.

Excited Liverpool Supporter Viewpoint

From a fan’s perspective, the idea of Rodrygo at Anfield is thrilling. Not only is he a Champions League-proven attacker, but he’s also still young and adaptable—everything Liverpool’s forward line needs as it evolves. The club has often missed out on big-name signings due to financial prudence, so the news that FSG might be willing to go big is refreshing.

That said, many fans will be cautious too. Luis Diaz has been a key figure when fit, and losing him might feel like a sideways move unless Rodrygo proves more consistent. Some might also question the logic in spending upwards of £85m on a player who isn’t a guaranteed starter for Madrid. Is he really worth that much?

Still, with Nunez’s future in doubt and Salah not getting any younger, having a multi-functional forward like Rodrygo could be transformative. If Slot wants to stamp his authority on this side, this is the sort of brave move that gets everyone buzzing.
