Real Sociedad chase 1,000th league win against Oviedo | OneFootball

Real Sociedad could record their 1,000th top-flight win on Saturday, and beating Oviedo would also bring a first European place this season. According to Diario Vasco, La Real have 999 league wins across 79 campaigns.

Win 999 came against Elche on 7 February at Anoeta, secured by goals from Sucic, Oyarzabal and Óskarsson.

Milestone 900 was a 3-4 at Osasuna just over five years ago, early in Imanol Alguacil’s tenure, with Oyarzabal, Portu, Ødegaard and Isak scoring.

The 800th, a 4-1 against Valladolid in March 2013 under Philippe Montanier with Griezmann, Vela and Prieto, came in a fourth-place season. Win 700 came on 6 October 2002 against Valladolid, Karpin and Nihat scoring for a Denoueix side that later led the league and pushed for the title.

In 1995 Imanol Alguacil delivered win 600. Seven years earlier, Txiki Begiristain struck the 500th with a 0-1 in Valencia, months after the Copa triumph in Zaragoza. Between the 1981 and 1982 titles came win 400, a 4-1 against Valencia at Atocha from Zamora, López Ufarte, Satrústegui and Larrañaga.

The 200th came in 1967 through Arregui from the Puertollano promotion, and the 100th in 1952 with Ignacio Eizagirre in goal after 24 years.

Since 1928/29, 26 players have celebrated 100 or more top-flight victories for Real, led by Jesús Zamora, involved in 208 of the 999 across 16 of the 79 seasons. This campaign should be remembered for the landmark, and the club will hope it comes on Saturday.
