Real Sociedad confirm Aritz Elustondo to leave at season’s end | OneFootball

Real Sociedad have confirmed Aritz Elustondo will leave at the end of the season, the club said in a statement after deciding not to renew his contract.

The Beasain-born defender, one of the team’s captains, has made 310 official appearances and has four matches left this term, completing eleven seasons with the first team. Two of those final games are at Anoeta, offering supporters a chance to say goodbye.

Elustondo made his debut for the club in December 2014 in a Copa tie in Oviedo.

His honours include two Copas del Rey at La Cartuja, against Athletic and Atlético de Madrid. Across his time in San Sebastián he has helped secure one Champions League qualification and five for the Europa League.

He fronted the celebrations after the Copa del Rey triumph on 18 April against Atlético, when Mikel Oyarzabal introduced him and team-mates and fans chanted, “Elus quédate!”. The farewell will come instead.
