Real Sociedad finalise loan for Mamadou Sarr | OneFootball

Real Sociedad have finalised the loan of Mamadou Sarr for this season, adding the Chelsea defender to their options.

According to Superdeporte, the 20-year-old, who turns 21 on Saturday, will report quickly to Pellegrino Matarazzo in San Sebastián. The move offers Sarr the LaLiga minutes he is seeking after being deemed surplus to Xabi Alonso's Chelsea.

Matarazzo wanted extra cover at centre-back amid doubts over Nayef Aguerd and Cruzeiro's refusal to sanction a deal for Jonathan Jesús. Sarr will compete with Jon Martín, Igor Zubeldia and Jon Pacheco at the Reale Arena.

Strasbourg signed him from Lyon in summer 2024 for 10 million euros. Under Liam Rosenior he became a regular, attracting Chelsea, who paid 14 million euros then loaned him back to Strasbourg for another year.

His rise also brought a senior Senegal debut in late 2025.
