Real Sociedad endured a bruising night, with Barrenetxea the standout and Oyarzabal’s 2-2 penalty bringing them level. Remiro excelled, keeping the team alive with first half saves.

AS notes that Aritz operated on the right of defence in his first outing since it emerged he will not continue at the club, and he struggled like many team-mates. Jon Martín mixed strong interventions with mistakes, while Caleta-Car’s performance also fluctuated.

Sergio Gómez nearly cost a goal before the break but improved, later setting one up. Soler was subdued and withdrawn on 53 minutes, with Kubo also off on 53 after a tough night. Gorrotxategi recovered after a loose first half, at times swapping with Oyarzabal, and had a 62nd minute finish ruled out for offside.

Barrenetxea drove inside repeatedly, leaving the left to Sergio Gómez, and produced a cow's-tail pass that delighted the crowd. Oskarsson missed chances and hesitated on an early break, choosing a pass to Barrenetxea that went astray, yet with space he thrives in transition. He struck the first goal of the fightback.

Oyarzabal, short on openings, worked for the side and converted from the spot for 2-2, his 100th in La Liga. From the bench, Marín grafted on the right rather than seeking constant one-v-ones, while Sucic offered line-breaking carries.
