Real Sociedad ‘working on’ Aguerd return | OneFootball

Real Sociedad are working on a deal to bring back Aguerd after his 2024-25 loan spell, Diario Vasco reports.

The 30-year-old Morocco centre-back is among the recruitment team’s preferred options. He left West Ham for Marseille last summer on a long-term contract.

La Real expect no issues agreeing personal terms, having been impressed by his previous stint. He began that season superbly with a promising debut against Real Madrid, then missed the run-in after injury following the Copa semi-final second leg at the Bernabéu.

The fee is central, and La Real are not expected to come close to 23 million euros. Marseille are open to his departure despite his deal running to 2030.

Qatari side Al-Sadd had been keen, but that route now seems unlikely as the defender prefers to remain in Europe.

Aguerd had been called up by Morocco for this summer’s World Cup, but did not take part as he was not fully fit after a prior injury with Marseille. It was not a relapse, only that he was short of 100 percent for the group stage.
