Fulham are surely going to seal their promotion to the Premier League in the near future and Marco Silva can then look forward to trying to build a squad good enough to remain in the top flight.
That has been a step too far for the Lilywhites after earning promotion in recent seasons and they have found themselves yo-yoing between the first and second tier, so Silva knows all too well what the challenge is in 2022/23.
How he shapes his squad remains to be seen, then, but there will surely be incomings and outgoings and another thing yet to be discovered surrounds the future of Steven Sessegnon.
The brother of former Fulham player Ryan, Steven is a player that also has his fair share of talent but he hasn’t quite been able to force his way into the starting XI at Craven Cottage.
Loan spells at Bristol City and most recently Plymouth have been embarked upon, but with him only starting twice and appearing four times from the bench for Argyle, as per Whoscored, he’s perhaps not played as much as he would have liked, or needed, to be in the reckoning for Fulham.
Fulham have an option to extend his contract past the end of this summer, but it’s up in the air if they do that and, particularly if they are in the Premier League, it is hard to see just where he gets into the side.
Without doubt, he has the quality to be a good player for a side in the EFL but it could now be the case he thinks about moving on to get his career going.
