Rearranged games: under-20s and under-15s win in Paulista

São Paulo’s Under-20 and Under-15 teams won their respective Campeonato Paulista matches on Wednesday. The games were rescheduled after being postponed last Saturday due to heavy rain in Cotia. The Under-17s also took the field and were beaten. All three matches were played at Prefeito José Liberatti Stadium, in Osasco.

The junior side beat União São João 1-0, with Marvin scoring the goal. The Under-15s, meanwhile, only had to play the second half on Wednesday (the match had been suspended at the end of the first half), and won 4-0, with two goals from Yagho, one from Luisinho and another from Juninho.

The Under-17s, however, were beaten 2-1 by Independente, with Rhian scoring for Tricolor.

Under-15

The match began last Saturday (12) at CFA Laudo Natel, in Cotia, and São Paulo finished the first half with a 3-0 lead. In the sixth minute, Juninho received a pass from João Marcos and opened the scoring with a shot from outside the box. In the 12th minute, Juninho was involved again, this time as the provider. The forward found Yahgo, who doubled the lead. In the 34th minute, Yahgo struck again to make it three before the stoppage.

In the second half, Tricolor maintained its advantage and, in the 36th minute, Luisinho received the ball on the edge of the box and curled home to complete the scoring.

The team’s next match will be against Inter de Limeira this Saturday (19) at 9 a.m., at Antônio Lins Ribeiro Guimarães Stadium, in Santa Bárbara d’Oeste (SP), in the 19th round of the Campeonato Paulista.

Under-17

The 11 a.m. match started as a hard-fought contest, with both sides frequently trading possession. After 17 minutes, the opposition opened the scoring from the penalty spot. Four minutes later, in the 21st minute, Rhian equalized with a shot from outside the box, but in the 40th minute the opposition scored a second.

Like the Under-15s, the team will also return to action this Saturday (19), but to face Paulinense at 11 a.m. at Luís Perissinotto Stadium, in Paulínia (SP), in the 19th round of the Paulista.

Under-20

In the afternoon, it was the Under-20s’ turn to face União São João. Tricolor’s best chance in the first half came in the 41st minute, when Isac tried his luck from outside the box and the goalkeeper parried it away. On the rebound, Samuel went for goal, but the ball skimmed past the post.

The team coached by Júlio Baptista kept up its strong presence in the final third and was rewarded in the 34th minute with a stunning goal from Marvin from outside the box, lobbing the goalkeeper and finding the top-right corner.

Having qualified for the second phase, Tricolor is awaiting confirmation of the dates, kick-off times and opponent for the next round. In the Copa do Brasil, Tricolor is also already through to the second phase and will face Athletico-PR, who secured qualification on Wednesday, but the date and kick-off time of that match have also not yet been set.
