La Liga outfit Celta Vigo have on Monday closed a high-profile piece of business on the transfer front.
This comes amid confirmation that the Celestes have wrapped up a deal for experienced Spanish international Marcos Alonso.
Left-back Alonso, for his part, is currently a free agent.
This comes after the former Chelsea man’s terms with Barcelona were allowed to expire, on the back of an uninspiring two-year stint on the books of the Blaugrana.
Still held in high regard across the Spanish football landscape, Alonso, in turn, was tipped to link up with a whole host of La Liga clubs.
As alluded to above, though, on Monday, one such side have beaten out the competition to his signature.
As per a report from transfer insider Fabrizio Romano:
‘Marcos Alonso to Celta Vigo, here we go! Agreement in place to join the club on free transfer, contract approved.’
Celta will now set about putting the necessary details in place to ensure that Alonso can be registered under Financial Fair Play conditions, before organising a medical for the experienced stopper.
