N'Golo Kanté has completed a move to Fenerbahçe until 2028, after negotiations had stalled at the close of the Saudi winter window.

According to L'Équipe, the breakthrough was directly linked to a meeting on Tuesday in Riyadh between Türkiye's president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and Saudi crown prince Mohammed ben Salmane, which focused mainly on political and economic matters.

The France midfielder, capped 65 times with two goals, was confirmed by the Istanbul club on Wednesday. Fenerbahçe's president later thanked Erdogan for his support with the transfer.

Kanté is due to arrive at Istanbul airport on Wednesday night at around 21:30.

As is customary with Turkish clubs, a fervent welcome is expected for the 2018 World Cup winner.
