Red Star Belgrade fans unveil tifo honouring Ratko Mladic at Partizan derby | OneFootball

Red Star Belgrade supporters sparked outrage during the 2-1 Belgrade derby against Partizan by unveiling a tifo honouring Ratko Mladic, who died on 27 August.

According to L'Équipe, the display appeared as the teams walked out, and the club then shared images on its official social media accounts, drawing heavy condemnation in the replies.

Mladic, convicted of genocide and crimes against humanity by international justice and widely dubbed the Butcher of the Balkans, is being buried in Belgrade on Monday amid nationwide tributes.

The banner read "Direction : Poto?ari", referencing the Srebrenica massacres in Bosnia which he orchestrated, in which nearly 8000 Muslim men and boys were killed.

Red Star’s ultras, known for nationalist far-right leanings, have a history of incendiary displays of this kind.

They previously displayed a Mladic banner during the Europa League play-off second leg at Viktoria Plzen, after which UEFA opened a disciplinary investigation.
