Red Star Belgrade star Timi Elšnik made use of the opportunity to poke fun at Real Madrid, in the aftermath of his side’s meeting with Barcelona on Wednesday.
Red Star, of course, played host to Hansi Flick’s Barca in a Champions League clash last night.
When all was said and done, the Serbian giants were made short work of by the rampant Blaugrana, en route to an eventual 5-2 result.
As alluded to above, though, post-match, one member of the former’s midfield ranks was nevertheless keen to focus on the positives.
Speaking to the media on the back of the full-time whistle at the Red Star Stadium, Timi Elšnik was drawn on his side’s display.
And the Slovenian international made use of the chance to both heap praise on Barcelona, and aim a dig at Clásico rivals Real Madrid:
“We have to congratulate Barça on the win. They have some of the best players in the world. We tried to compete, but at least we can say we scored more goals against Barça than Real Madrid did!”
