While there’s reports on John Souttar new contract offer at Ibrox, we ponder a slightly more abstract question.
Ibrox Noise reported some weeks ago that the owners appeared to have ditched the Daily Record (Reach plc) as their media piece. That instead, they’d offered the Danny Rohl exclusive to the Rangers Review and Chris Jack (Newsquest).
But it’s Scott Burns of Reach/DR who has broken the Souttar story.
In previous years we’d conclude fiction from this particular source, but the DR was bang on pretty much until Russell Martin’s firing about events from Ibrox. They were 100% ITK on the takeover and got just about everything right.
AKA the 49ers had chosen Keith Jackson, Burns and co as their media outlet.

But then the exclusive Rohl story from Newsquest’s brands suggested a change in policy from Andrew Cavenagh.
And now the DR have the Souttar story.
Admittedly it’s not ‘exclusive’ but they were the first to report it. Are they fabricating a story from nothing (wouldn’t be the first time) or have the 49ers given them an ‘in’ again?
In truth it probably doesn’t really matter – as long as Rangers fans are informed accurately of what’s going on at Ibrox from sources like these.
Ibrox Noise does our best too to bring you what we get, but like any outlet, we won’t get everything right.
Sources are often wrong, it happens.
But we do wonder which of DR or RR that the 49ers now favour.
Or are they just playing them both together? John Souttar contract suggests maybe.
Either way, as long as the fans aren’t fed guff, and this year, mostly, the truth has been out there.
