The referee did not halt play at Mestalla despite abuse aimed at Athletic.

According to El Correo, the visitors’ team bus was greeted outside the ground by hostile chanting and the throwing of objects.

Supporters shouted "puto vasco el que no bote" outside the stadium.

Inside the stadium, insults from sections of the crowd were aimed at the visiting side.

Play continued without interruption from the match official.
