Referee Wagner do Nascimento Magalhães wrote in his match report that VAR was unavailable for part of the second half in Saturday’s Vasco v Botafogo derby. He recorded that home fans moved a goal-line camera and that quality manager Bernardo Campos Martins later informed him it was offline for 12 minutes shortly after the restart. He also noted the operator was later prevented from fixing it amid harassment and threats.

Shortly after the restart, the displaced camera left the system offline for 12 minutes before service resumed.

Following the visitors’ second goal in the 33rd minute of the second half, the same camera went down again and did not return. The operator was blocked from reaching the platform housing the camera and was harassed and threatened.

The referee did not state whether any incidents were left unchecked by the video officials.

The camera is aligned with the goal line and is used to assess offside calls and whether the ball crossed the line.

Vasco could face sanctions from the CBF or the STJD as a result.
