Argentina’s referees’ unions have backed the AFA amid a legal dispute led by ARCA and the prospect of official football being halted. According to SuperDepor.com, their statement comes as tensions rise nationwide.
The Unión de Árbitros Deportivos de Argentina and the Asociación Argentina de Árbitros issued institutional support for the Asociación del Fútbol Argentino as debate continues over suspending competitions.
Both bodies said they support the decision adopted by the Comité Ejecutivo de la Liga Profesional de Fútbol, composed of the leaders of the 30 clubs. They noted it was agreed at AFA headquarters and has already been made public.
In their text, the referees reaffirmed a commitment to institutional order and to respecting decisions taken by Argentine football’s authorities, signalling support for the leadership headed by Claudio “Chiqui” Tapia.
Their intervention adds to backing already voiced by clubs and other sectors of the game, with the calendar facing the possibility that rounds could be suspended across all categories.
