Régis Le Bris is encouraged by Enzo Le Fée’s pre-season scoring and believes a sharper edge in front of goal could elevate his impact for Sunderland in 2026/27.

According to Sunderland Echo, the 26-year-old hit a brace at York City, then struck from long range against Liverpool in a 4-2 defeat over the weekend.

It continues a trend after he returned to his preferred central role in the closing weeks of last season, when he posed a greater open-play threat.

Le Bris views him at his best in the central corridor, linking with fellow midfielders with mobility and freedom, and improving his connections with the centre backs and others. He says the creativity is there, and if Le Fée becomes more decisive in front of goal he will be even more impactful.

After an open training session for supporters on Sunday, Sunderland’s US tour now moves to New Jersey to face Leeds United.

His squad will be bolstered by the returns of Noah Sadiki, Habib Diarra, Robin Roefs, Brian Brobbey, Arthur Masuaku and Simon Adingra after their World Cup commitments. Le Bris said the group involved in the first two games have set the standard for those rejoining, adding that that World Cup experience will be huge and useful for their future.
