Régis Le Bris remains hopeful Wilson Isidor can still have a long-term future at Sunderland despite continuing talk of a summer move. The head coach said it is too early to judge the window, but that the striker is happy and part of his plans.

According to Sunderland Echo, Le Bris has held talks with Isidor, who is frustrated by game time after Brian Brobbey established himself as first-choice in the second half of the season.

Isidor's recent upturn included a sharp cameo at Everton, where he scored and helped seal a 3-1 win, reminding Sunderland of his qualities. Le Bris stressed the squad needs two strikers, that momentum shifts, and that patience can bring opportunities.

He framed being second choice in a top 10 Premier League side as not necessarily a bad situation and urged Isidor to wait for his moment. Le Bris added he likes the forward and would like him to stay.

Sunderland's bench proved decisive at Everton and could be again on Sunday as they bid to secure European football with a win over Chelsea at the Stadium of Light.

Habib Diarra set up Isidor's goal and his impact pleased Le Bris after a disrupted spell for the club's record signing. The coach pointed to AFCON involvement, injury, a bright start, then a long period without playing or building understanding with team-mates.

Le Bris said Diarra, like Isidor, has shown strong mentality and quality off the bench and that they will see him next season.
