Régis Le Bris has reshaped Sunderland’s line-up for their Premier League trip to Wolves, bringing Enzo Le Fée back into midfield and restoring Chemsdine Talbi on the left. Habib Diarra drops to the bench in one of two changes after the heavy loss to Nottingham Forest.
As reported by Sunderland Echo, Reinildo returns to the XI at the expense of Chris Rigg, with Trai Hume expected to switch to the right flank and reprise his hybrid role ahead of Nordi Mukiele.
Jocelin Ta Bi is back among the substitutes following an ankle injury, adding depth out wide. Bertrand Traore and Nilson Angulo miss out but could be involved next week.
Le Bris said he had recently discussed roles with Diarra and Le Fée, and that the return of wingers increases options and competition both wide and in central areas. He added that competition helps players maintain standards, and that changing the No 10 during games, for example turning to Rigg or Diarra later on, could pose different problems and benefit the squad.
Sunderland XI: Roefs, Mukiele, Ballard, Alderete, Reinildo, Xhaka, Sadiki, Le Fée, Hume, Talbi, Brobbey. Subs: Ellborg, Geertruida, O’Nien, Cirkin, Rigg, Diarra, Mayenda, Isidor, Ta Bi.
Wolves have suffered a double setback. Goalkeeper Jose Sa is out injured and, with Sam Johnstone also sidelined, third choice Daniel Bentley starts. Defender Ladislav Krejci misses out with a neck injury.
