Régis Le Bris says Jocelin Ta Bi could rejoin Sunderland's matchday squad at Wolves this weekend after an ankle lay-off.
According to Sunderland Echo, the winger injured his ankle on his full Premier League debut against Fulham earlier this year and was initially expected to miss the rest of the season after surgery. He has progressed quicker than anticipated and trained with team-mates this week, so Le Bris hopes to include him at Molineux.
The head coach added that Bertrand Traoré and Nilson Angulo could also make the squad after stepping up their recoveries at the Academy of Light. Next weekend's visit of Manchester United may be a more realistic target for the pair.
Le Bris said the club recently had four wingers sidelined, and that three should be available soon. He indicated Ta Bi is the likeliest for Wolves, with calls on Traoré and Angulo to be made either now or next week.
He acknowledged Sunderland have lacked options out wide, and warned the returning trio will need time to hit their best levels. He highlighted their ability to threaten one-v-one, run in behind, cross and combine, but cautioned against expecting immediate change, noting patience might be required.
