Régis Le Bris says Jocelin Ta Bi could rejoin Sunderland’s squad at Wolves this weekend after quicker-than-expected progress from ankle surgery. The winger sustained the injury on his first Premier League start against Fulham earlier this year and had been expected to miss the rest of the campaign.
According to Sunderland Echo, he trained with his team-mates this week and may be included in the matchday squad at Molineux.
Le Bris added that fellow wide players Bertrand Traoré and Nilson Angulo are close, with the pair stepping up their recoveries at the Academy of Light this weekend. They could feature, but next weekend’s visit of Manchester United appears a more realistic aim.
Sunderland have been short of options out wide in recent weeks, with four wingers missing at the same time. Le Bris said three should be available soon, although each will need time to regain sharpness after their layoffs.
He believes the trio suit the role and can provide one-v-one threat, runs beyond defenders, accurate crosses and combinations in tight areas. He hopes they will help, while cautioning that an immediate improvement should not be expected.
