Sunderland return to Premier League action against Nottingham Forest at the Stadium of Light tonight, with Régis Le Bris weighing up selection calls as they chase a top-half finish and a possible European spot.
According to Sunderland Echo, the head coach is likely to pick from the same group that faced Aston Villa last Sunday, though he has strong options on the bench if he wants to reshuffle.
Robin Roefs is set to continue in goal, enjoying a superb campaign and with a big part to play. At right back, Nordi Mukiele has been restored in recent weeks and seems certain to keep his place.
After a cautious approach last week, and minutes at Villa Park plus a full week of training, it would be a major surprise if Dan Ballard did not return to the starting XI.
Omar Alderete has been outstanding lately and is central to the side in and out of possession. He came off in the second half at Villa due to illness, with five or six players affected, but he should be fit to start.
Le Bris views Mukiele as pivotal to Sunderland’s attacking threat at home.
