L’Équipe report that Ligue 1 side Stade de Reims are in negotiations with Portuguese 1st division club Paços de Ferreira about entering into a formal partnership.
The partnership would focus on youth academy synergies, as well as providing a gateway into European football for Reims youth academy prospects not yet deemed ready to play in Ligue 1 by enabling them to play in the Paços first team.
Inversely, Portuguese talents could find themselves at Stade de Reims – talks have been intense in recent days and the French side appear hopeful about a positive conclusion. However, SDR are facing competition from other French clubs as well as sides abroad to close a partnership with Paços.
Lyon have recently announced a partnership with Portuguese side Farense and Lille are poised to acquire a controlling interest in Botafogo.
OGC Nice are also looking a potential partnership in Portugal.
