Reinaldo Carneiro Bastos, current president of the Federação Paulista de Futebol, has registered his slate for the federation’s election, set for the 25th.

He will be the sole candidate and is expected to be acclaimed for the 2027 to 2030 term. According to Globo.com, Mauro Silva and Fernando Sollero are his vice-presidential nominees.

The slate drew near-unanimous backing across the Paulista’s top four divisions, with 63 of 64 clubs signing. Desportivo Brasil did not subscribe due to bureaucratic issues.

That prevented an opposition slate from being registered. Lawyer Wilson Marqueti, former prosecutor at São Paulo’s TJD, tried to mount a candidacy but did not succeed.

Under the federation’s statutes, a slate must be backed by at least 12 clubs, including five from A-1, three from A-2, two from A-3, one from the Segunda Divisão and one amateur league.

This will be the third time Carneiro Bastos is elected by acclamation. He assumed the role in 2015 when, as vice-president, he replaced Marco Polo Del Nero, who left to take over the CBF, then ran unopposed in 2018 and 2022.

It will be his final election, as the statutes limit presidents to three re-elections.
