This past summer, Lamine Yamal was rumored to be on Paris Saint-Germain’s radar as a potential successor to Kylian Mbappé. According to a report from Mundo Deportivo over the summer, PSG was ready to spend big, even exceeding their record €222 million transfer fee by offering up to €250 million to secure Yamal.

However, despite the interest, no serious negotiations took place. For now, PSG will have to admire Yamal from a distance. PSG sporting advisor Luis Campos attended the Thinking Football Summit in Portugal this week, where he was asked about the club’s recent transfer window.

One of the main discussion topics was the rumors linking PSG to Yamal. The club chief noted that he’s a fan of the player but nothing further.

“If all the players who have appeared in the press linked to PSG were here, we would have five stars in each position,” Campos said. “Of course, I like Lamine Yamal, but also [Ousmane] Dembelé, Kang-in Lee, [Marco] Asensio… Fantastic players of enormous quality.

“To say that Yamal is not a great player would be a huge mistake on my part, he is an excellent footballer and I am very happy to see him playing at his level. But PSG are very happy with the players they have in these positions.”

Moreover, Andy Bara, Dani Olmo’s agent, has strong connections with Barcelona president Joan Laporta and sporting advisor Deco noted that there was an offer from PSG for Yamal.

“One thing I know is that Barça rejected a big offer from PSG for Lamine Yamal, which was worth around €250 million,” Bara said.

PSG are focusing on young talent, but putting that type of money on a teenager is always risky. It will be interesting to see whether, in the future, the Parisians revisit any interest they might have in Yamal.
