FC Bayern continues to move forward with its personnel planning. Max Eberl, the current sporting director at the record-holding champions, is leading the effort. But his future remains uncertain.
That’s because there aren’t only positive voices surrounding Eberl—there are also a few critics here and there. Internally, it’s clear that this summer’s transfer window will be decisive for Eberl’s future.
Deals like the one for Ismael Saibari—who endedup being cheaper than expected—are a definite plus for Eberl. But by the time of the supervisory board meeting at the end of August, he’ll need not only to make signings but also to offload players—and do so as effectively as possible.
Several players, especially those on loan, are on the list of potential departures. The salary budget needs to be freed up, but revenue is also needed to maintain financial balance.
And as long as it remains unclear what the future holds for Eberl, the rumor mill will continue to churn. Markus Krösche, currently with Eintracht Frankfurt, has already been linked to Bayern on several occasions.
He is said to have recently held talks with Milan before deciding to remain in Frankfurt—at least for the time being. A departure this summer is generally not on the table; what happens after that remains to be seen.

SportBILD now reveals: Krösche has another release clause in the winter transfer window that would allow him to leave. This clause does not apply in the summer, which is why Milan would have had to negotiate directly with the Hessian club.
According to the report, Krösche can leave in the winter for a fee in the low single-digit millions. This clause applies to FC Bayern, among others, but also to Borussia Dortmund. Top clubs from the English Premier League are also entitled to activate this clause.
For the record-holding champions’ management, this is at least an interesting piece of information should they decide to part ways with Eberl after all.
