Celtic have opened contract talks with Cameron Carter-Vickers. The American Internationalist has been targeted by English Premier League sides in recent weeks with Brendan Rodgers confirming he was keen to tie him down on a long term deal.

As reported by Larry Henry Jnr on Twitter/X, the Scottish Champions have opened talks about extending their star defender’s deal, which is due to expire in the summer of June 2026.

Since arriving from Spurs, Carter-Vickers has been excellent. Initially joining on loan, CCV combined with Carl Starfelt to win a double in Ange’s first season. The partnership solidified in the second season as Celtic won a Treble. This season has been stop-start for the ‘Rolls Royce’ defender, who has had a recovering hamstring injury after coming back from knee surgery that he underwent in May.

Henry Jr has been a valued source on reporting about CCV ever since the summer of 2021. With connections in the USMNT, the Managing Editor at SBI Soccer is always an accurate reporter of matters concerning Carter-Vickers.

Brendan Rodgers has said that he wants to keep the player amidst interest from Brentford, Wolves and Nottingham Forest. The Irishman did say that didn’t know whether a deal had been offered yet but that doesn’t necessarily mean that dialogue hasn’t started. Celtic will be keen to hold onto Carter-Vickers and build the team around him moving forward into the next few seasons.
